TVM youth dies after lying unattended on road for 30 minutes; Video shows onlookers failing to act

Thiruvananthapuram: In a tragic incident, a young man died after lying injured and bleeding on the road for nearly half an hour after a road accident. The deceased has been identified as Vivek (23), a resident of Kuttianikkad at Perumkadavila here. Allegations have surfaced that although many people gathered at the scene, no one stepped forward to take Vivek to the hospital. The release of CCTV footage has intensified the criticism directed at both the local residents and the police for their inaction.
The tragic incident occurred on November 3 near the Maranalloor Malavila Bridge, where the motorbike Vivek was riding lost control in the rain and crashed into a post. CCTV footage shows that moments after the accident, a motorbike, a car and an auto-rickshaw arrived at the scene. Shortly after, the police also reached.
It took nearly half an hour for an ambulance to arrive. Vivek was first taken to the Kandal hospital and later transferred to the Medical College, but efforts to save his life were in vain.
