Thiruvananthapuram: Reports suggest the workers and volunteers who clean up the city streets after Attukal Pongala ritual here on Sunday have done a commendable job. The team led by the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation was able to clear the Pongala’s remnants and other trash within hours.
Notably, lakhs of devotees took part in the ritual and it is, in fact, a laborious task to clean the streets. The team initiated the drive soon after the devotees left the streets.
The cleaning works started around 02:30 pm. The team first cleared the plastic items like covers and bottles littered on the road. Later they formed into small groups and cleared degradable and dry things used in the hearth.
