Tej turns into extremely severe cyclone, IMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall in Kerala

Kozhikode: India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that cyclonic storm "Tej" over the Southwest Arabian Sea has intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and will intensify into a deep depression in the next 12 hours. 

IMD has forecasted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in isolated parts of Kerala on October 22 and 23. 

Meanwhile, fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea on Kerala coast till October 25. 

Yellow alert (Oct 22, 2023): Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad.
