New Delhi: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of Siddique's petition seeking bail in the rape case to next week. The delay was granted following a request from Siddique's advocate, Mukul Rohatgi.

Kerala accuses Siddique of not cooperating

The Kerala government informed the court that Siddique has not been cooperating with the investigation. Kerala officials also claimed that he has been unwilling to answer some important questions related to the case.

Rohatgi, defending Siddique, argued that his client had exchanged his old phone for a new one, making it impossible to submit the original phone for examination in the investigation.

Hearing delayed due to advocate’s health

Rohatgi also mentioned that he was suffering from throat pain, which prevented him from continuing his arguments in the case. As a result, the court decided to postpone the hearing until next week.

Interim bail extended

Meantime, Siddique's interim bail has been extended until the next hearing, providing him with temporary relief. The complaint against Siddique was filed by a female actress, who alleged that he sexually assaulted her on January 28, 2016, at the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.
