Son starts first day as driver in KSRTC Swift, joined by mother as conductor

A touching moment unfolded at a KSRTC Swift bus as mother Yamuna and son Sreerag began their first day of work together on Sunday. Sreerag, newly appointed as a bus driver, drove his first route with his mother serving as the conductor on the electric bus route from East Fort to the Medical College.
This was Sreerag's first duty since joining KSRTC a week earlier, after completing his training. His mother, Yamuna, has been a KSRTC employee since 2009, serving as a temporary fill-in conductor. In 2022, she became the first female employee of the Swift service. For Yamuna, her son’s job represented a long-held dream, especially since she had received her own position from the Chief Minister on her very first day.
Before joining KSRTC, Sreerag worked as a temporary driver for the forest department. He underwent conductor training alongside his mother when he started at KSRTC. The City ATO, C. P. Prasad, honoured Sreerag's wish to work his first duty shift with his mother, making the day even more special.
Passengers were intrigued to see the mother-son duo on the bus together, and during their work breaks, they shared meals they had brought from home. Family support was strong that day, as Yamuna’s husband, Rajendran Asari, along with their other children—Siddharth and Rakendu—and Sreerag's wife, Minnu, came to witness this moment.
