Senior journalist A Sahadevan passes away

Kottayam: Senior journalist and former Assistant Editor of Mathrubhumi A Sahadevan (70) passed away here on Sunday. He breathed his last at a private hospital here on Sunday around 11.55 am. Apart from being a noted journalist, he was also popular as a film critic and teacher.
He was born on October 15, 1951, at Puthussery in Palakkad. He was the son of Mathur native Thazhathe Kalathil KC Nair and Polpully native Padmavathi Amma. He completed his schooling at Puthussery Polpulli, Elappulli and Palakkad Mothilal High School. He passed BA from Victoria College in Palakkad and MA from University College in Thiruvananthapuram. He worked as a teacher in Fort Kochi Delta Study and Nilgiris Govt. Higher Secondary School.
He was a degree student when Mathrubhumi Weekly published his first story in October (1971). He later wrote for Malayalam, Deshabhimani, Navayugam and Kalakaumudi.
He joined Mathrubhumi in 1982 as a journalist. He was in charge of Mathrubhumi Weekly, Chithrabhoomi and weekend edition. He later joined India Vision. He handled a film special programme called 24 Frames.
He also won Pamban Madhavan memorial award for the best journalist. He is survived by his wife Pushpa and daughter Charulekha.
