Locals catch python with 12 eggs from canal in Kottayam

Kaduthuruthy: Locals here caught a python while cleaning Appanchira canal at around 9.30 am on Tuesday. The snake which was captured with its 12 eggs troubled the police and the locals.
Although the locals informed the matter to the Forest Department, they took the snake to Kaduthuruthy police station when the officials failed to arrive at the spot on time.
At first, the police said that they could not keep the snake at the station. This led to arguments between the locals and the police. The police also forcefully took the keys of the vehicles in which the locals arrived. The locals also alleged that the police threatened to charge cases against them.
The forest officials arrived by around 2.30 pm and took the snake away from there.
The locals said that the police handed over the confiscated keys to them after forest officials took the snake. Along with the snake, forest officials also took its eggs from the police station.
