Priyanka Gandhi visits Wayanad Collectorate; attends DISHA meet during 10-day visit

Kalpetta (Kerala): Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday arrived at the Wayanad District Collectorate in Kalpetta and attended the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting as part of her 10-day visit to the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.

The DISHA meeting is focused on reviewing the implementation and progress of various development and welfare programmes in the district, with elected representatives and government officials taking part.

Priyanka Gandhi's participation at the Collectorate is part of a series of official engagements scheduled during her constituency visit. The Wayanad Collectorate is located at North Kalpetta.

Meetings on key Wayanad issues

Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to meet officials from the electricity and health departments during her visit. She will also take part in review meetings on human-wildlife conflict and issues concerning the tourism sector, according to the schedule for her 10-day tour.

The Congress MP is also expected to interact with people and various sections of society during her constituency visit, with programmes planned in different parts of Wayanad.

Priyanka Gandhi's Wayanad Journey

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's entry into the Lok Sabha marked her electoral debut after she won the Wayanad bypoll with 6.22 lakh votes, defeating CPI's Sathyan Mokeri by a margin of more than four lakh votes. She took oath as Wayanad MP on November 28, 2024, wearing a traditional Kerala kasavu saree and holding a copy of the Constitution.

Her election followed Rahul Gandhi's decision to retain the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat after winning both constituencies in the 2024 general election, leaving Wayanad vacant.
