Over 4000 traffic violation complaints filed in just 1.5 months on Parivahan App in Kerala

Over the past one and a half months, 4,098 complaints have been registered under the 'Citizen Sentinel' feature of the Parivahan app. Out of these, the Motor Vehicles Department has already initiated fine collection procedures for 1,942 cases.
The remaining 2,156 complaints were dismissed due to various reasons, such as lack of evidence, unclear instances of violations, or absence of identifiable vehicle registration numbers. Fines are being issued through e-challan based on the photographic and video evidence submitted.
The primary complaints received through Citizen Sentinel include illegal parking, riding without a helmet, reckless driving, overloading vehicles beyond permissible limits and using mobile phones while driving. Notably, 75% of the complaints were related to parking that obstructed roads or posed safety risks.
Citizen Sentinel was launched statewide in mid-October, and Ernakulam recorded the highest number of complaints with 842, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (724), Palakkad (486), Thrissur (360), Malappuram (332) and Kollam (309). Kasaragod received the least complaints at 67, while Wayanad reported 81 cases.
How to file a complaint
- Open the mParivahan app.
