Finally, Artist Paris Mohan Kumar gets quality time at home after 17 yrs

Mahe: Following the coronavirus outbreak across the world, noted artist Paris Mohan Kumar is enjoying some quality time at home after 17 long years. Though he visits home frequently, he never stays for a long time here. As the central government imposed nationwide lockdown, the artist is busy with his new painting at his house near Mandola temple here.

The artist was spending his life in various parts of the world. For almost 20 years, he was settled in France. After returning from France, he travelled across India. Now, amid the coronavirus outbreak, he is exploring his own house and premises.

From the last few days, he was promoting organic vegetable cultivation among farmers who is settled near Kabani river in Karnataka. During this mission, he also moved to Wayanad to encourage the tribal people  attain food self-sufficiency.

For him, his ancestral house in Mahe recalls memories of his dear ones. The house has historic importance as a memorial of the French invasion.

“The house which was partially destructed during the emergency was reconstructed with remaining parts 50 years ago. As it was constructed in the old method, it started to deteriorate. I want to renovate it during this retirement period,” said Paris Mohan Kumar.

The courtyard of the house is covered with fruit trees like Mangosteen.

“The shade from the trees which guard the house against the hot summer gives us a refreshing experience. I can’t explain it in words. Mahe is also put on high alert with the preventive measures against coronavirus. Hence, I cancelled all trips. I used to travel a lot. But for the sake of society, I believe staying at home is a better option. We should give priority for the efforts to overcome the pandemic as the whole world is engaged in it,” appealed the artist.

“I have been receiving phone calls enquiring about my health condition amid the COVID-19 outbreak. I invited all my well-wishers to join the battle against coronavirus. Along with it, I am observing the efforts to counter the pandemic,” added Paris Mohan Kumar.

The artist also revealed his future plans in Kerala. He wanted to do something for the welfare of the Adivasi community in Wayanad.

When floods ravaged the state, he conducted an auction of his paintings to raise funds for flood relief activities.

He declared that he will support the public who are facing various adversities. Paris Mohan Kumar also pointed out the need to protect nature. He criticized that people are not interested to engage in environmental protection. Hence, during the lockdown, he makes paintings that create awareness on the need to protect nature. His paintings communicate positive thoughts which inspire us to overcome all challenges.
