Oommen Chandy’s demise: Kerala announces public holiday today; 2-day official mourning

Thiruvananthapuram: In view of the demise of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the state government has declared a public holiday on Tuesday. The government has also announced two days of official mourning.
All the examinations scheduled for Tuesday in Kerala University, Mahatma Gandhi University and Kerala Technological University have been postponed. University authorities said that the revised date will be announced later.
Veteran Congress leader and two-time chief minister Oommen Chandy passed away on Tuesday. He was 79. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer for a long time.
He breathed his last at Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Bengaluru at 4.25 am.
