K Surendran’s comment on ruling Kerala was unfortunate: Election review report

Thiruvananthapuram: The review report of BJP points fingers on the weaknesses of the party's state leadership and senior leaders in its debacle in the Kerala Assembly Elections 2021. K Surendran's statement that BJP will rule Kerala if the party bags 35 seats became unfavourable. O Rajagopal couldn’t become popular in Nemom, says the report.

K Surendran contesting from Manjeshwar and Konni constituencies reduced the chances of win in  Manjeshwar.

The loss of the lone BJP seat in Nemom was due to lack of participation in local activities by O Rajagopal. He was not active in his office, at programmes like marriages, deaths or other events. But V Sivankutty was already popular among the public. Also, the comment of Kummanam Rajasekharan that Nemom is Kerala’s Gujarat and the overemphasis of Sobha Surendran on the Sabarimala issue had given a negative impact.

The report advised that as a national party, BJP should have focused on social issues more than religious ones like Sabarimala. BJP didn’t get the votes of the Ezhava community despite allying with BDJS.
