Not convinced by Padmakumar's confession to police, says Ganesh Kumar on Kollam abduction case

Pooyappally: Pathanapuram MLA K.B. Ganesh Kumar has raised doubts over the statements issued by the key accused in the Kollam abduction case.
“I don’t trust whatever Padmakumar has told the police. How can a person even think of abducting a girl for a ransom of just Rs 10 lakhs when he has liabilities of over Rs 5 crores? That’s not at all believable. The ransom that Padmakumar demanded would have proved insufficient even for paying interest on the loans. If the incident had not received media attention, perhaps the family would have paid the ransom for releasing the girl. But the combined efforts of the police, public and media spoiled their plans. But we should accept that the unruly act of the accused had held the entire state on tenterhooks for almost 20 hours or so,” said Ganesh Kumar while interacting with the media.
“The entire plot was so stupid. Kerala police are capable of solving complex cases in record time. It should be noted that Padmakumar is an engineering graduate. Now, his wife is said to be the actual mastermind behind the abduction. Didn’t the family hear about what had happened to Ashfaq Alam, the culprit in the Aluva case,” Ganesh Kumar opined.
“Padmakumar could have just sold his assets to find the money. Why did he plan on harming the little girl? How do you think his family will live from now on? Padmakumar and Anithakumari have a young daughter. How is this going to affect her future? There are a lot of questions the needs answer,” he said.
A businessman, his wife, and their YouTuber daughter were arrested by the Kerala Police here on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old girl earlier this week, demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh.
The child was later abandoned on a public ground in Kollam after the incident gained widespread attention.
Police said the accused Padmakumar, an engineering graduate, his homemaker wife Anitha Kumari, and their daughter Anupama Padman, who boasts a substantial following on YouTube, were taken into custody based on a combination of scientific, digital, and circumstantial evidence.
