No decision taken on IUML participation in CPM's Palestine solidarity rally: MK Muneer

Thiruvananthapuram: Muslim League leader Dr MK Muneer MLA stated that IUML has so far not held any discussions on whether to participate in the Palestine solidarity rally conducted by CPM or not. He expressed bewilderment over ET Mohammed Basheer MP’s comments related to the party's stand on the issue. It should be noted that the MP the other day said that the League will participate in the rally if invited by CPM. While addressing the media, Muneer said that every party is free to take its own stand on the Palestine issue.
“What is happening in Palestine now is nothing but ethnic cleansing, It is a gory act. It is absolutely inhuman. People who stand up for humanitarian issues will surely raise their voices against this international injustice. People who care for other humans will definitely condemn such war crimes, it is more so their responsibility to do so,” said MK Muneer.
While asked why Congress is reluctant to conduct a public programme on the Palestine issue, the MLA replied that “Every party has its own way of functioning. As an outsider, it is not appropriate to delve into the internal affairs of any other party. What the Muslim League can do here is take a stand on the particular issue, which we have already done. IUML will definitely raise its voice for the people of Palestine. That’s it. I don’t know how Congress is going to go about with the issue.”
Muneer was further quizzed on whether CPM had any dubious intentions while inviting IUML exclusively for its Palestine solidarity rally.
“This is not the time to postmortem the manner in which CPM functions. People in Kerala are enlightened to distinguish between genuine efforts and staged acts,” concluded Muneer.
