No CCTV visuals of alleged KSU attack on Kerala Health Minister Veena George; Med evaluation today

Kannur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has stated that CCTV cameras at Kannur railway station do not show clear visuals of Health Minister Veena George being allegedly attacked by KSU activists. The finding emerged during an inspection conducted following the incident.
In connection with the case, the Government Railway Police (GRP), which functions under the Kerala Police at the railway station, had sought the footage from the RPF. The review conducted for this purpose confirmed that no such visuals were found.
After the incident, Railway police officials visited the hospital to record the Minister’s statement, but were unable to do so due to health reasons. The investigation is proceeding based on the statement of the Minister’s security officer.
As the law and order issue occurred on the railway platform, the railway police registered the case and are conducting the probe. An FIR was registered late at night by the Kannur railway police. Officials said the delay in filing the case was due to the inability to record the Minister’s direct statement.
Neck injury; specialist evaluation advised
A medical bulletin issued by the District Hospital Superintendent stated that Health Minister Veena George sustained an injury to her neck. A medical team appointed by the hospital superintendent examined her. A specialist team appointed by the Superintendent of Kannur Government Medical College also assessed her condition. The bulletin said further examinations, including an MRI scan, have been advised. The Minister, who is currently undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, will undergo specialist evaluation on Thursday.
‘Vile politics of Congress’: CM
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described the alleged KSU attack on Health Minister Veena George as the “vile politics” of the Congress. “This is not a protest demonstration. It is the rampage of a group of miscreants,” he said.
“The Minister was attacked while walking towards the platform,” he added.
“Kerala has one of the best healthcare systems in India, recognised by all official agencies. Yet, by exaggerating certain incidents and targeting a Minister who was in no way involved, the attack cannot be viewed as politics but as political aberration,” he said.
The responsibility rests with the leadership of the Congress and the UDF front. The attack is condemnable and worthy of protest, the Chief Minister added.
Release CCTV footage, demands K C Venugopal
AICC general secretary K C Venugopal MP demanded that the government release the CCTV visuals from Kannur railway station in connection with the allegation that Minister Veena George was attacked. He was inaugurating the reception in Alappuzha for the ‘Puthuyuga Yatra’ led by Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan.
Harming anyone is not the Congress’s way, he said. The allegation of attack is a drama orchestrated by the Chief Minister to generate sympathy for the Health Minister, who, he claimed, stands isolated before the people.
“It has backfired. They are attempting to repeat a lie a hundred times to make it appear true,” he alleged.
