Newlywed man drowns in Kuttyadi river in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A newlywed man drowned in the Kuttyadi river here on Monday. Though initial reports suggested that the accident happened during his wedding photoshoot, police and family members denied it.

The deceased is Paleri native Rajil.

Kanika, the wife of Rajil, has been admitted to Malabar Medical College Hospital. She is stable now.

Rajil and Kanika slipped into the river at around 11 in the morning. Though family members were present at the location, no one knew swimming. Later, natives rescued Kanika and recovered Rajil.

Kanika and Rajil tied the knot on March 14. The river is near Kanika's house.
