Kozhikode: Nava Kerala daily bus service has officially commenced, with the introduction of the Garuda Premium service from Kozhikode to Bengaluru.

The inaugural journey of the Garuda Premium service kicked off from Kozhikode terminal at 4 am, with an estimated arrival time in Bengaluru at 11:30 am. The return journey from Bengaluru is scheduled for 2:30 pm, with an anticipated arrival in Kozhikode at 10 pm. The route encompasses Thamarassery, Kalpetta, Sultan Bathery and Mysuru.

However, shortly after departure around 4:30 am, a minor glitch was detected on the bus door. Fortunately, immediate rectification measures were taken, ensuring uninterrupted service. The malfunction, reportedly occurred due to an unintentional activation of the emergency switch, caused the door to open during transit near Kunnamangalam. The door was tied up and secured to prevent further issues and the door's impulse valve was reset later.

Priced at Rs 1171 per ticket, the bus has 26 seats, all equipped with new pushback set ups, replacing those used during ministerial travels. Despite initial deliberations regarding the bus's fate, it was decided to integrate it into regular service.

Operating under KSRTC's inter-state service banner, as the Garuda Premium bus, it was acquired at a cost of Rs.1.16 crore from Bharat Benz. It promises a comfortable journey complemented by entertainment amenities such as television, music systems, and mobile charger provisions.  Passengers can avail themselves of luggage storage facilities as well.
