Thrissur: Muslim League responded to the prevailing campaign citing Congress’ ‘failure’ to take a stand in the Uniform Civil Code issue. The two-day state camp held at Cheruthuruthy concluded with the assurance of the party’s leadership on the matter.

They raised the rationale that if the Congress party, that ruled the country for the longest period, were proponents of the UCC, it would have been implemented years ago. Sadiq Ali Thangal also acclimated the camp members about the opinions of senior leaders like Jairam Ramesh regarding the matter.

BJP and CPM are trying to paint UCC as a Muslim issue. BJP’s mission is to garner advantage by creating division on a national level whereas the CPM’s efforts are aimed at making gains by polarising Kerala. League leadership advised its members and supporters to be heedful of falling into this trap.

The leaders confirmed that there is no reason to distrust the Congress in the present scenario.
