‘Kerala is safe’: Viral Kumbh Mela star Monalisa marries Muhammad Farman in temple ceremony | WATCH

Thiruvananthapuram: Monalisa Bhosle, the viral sensation from the 2025 Kumbh Mela, and actor Muhammad Farman have tied the knot in Kerala. The couple were married on Wednesday evening at a temple in Arumanoor, near Thiruvananthapuram, in the presence of local residents and political leaders.

Farman married Monalisa by tying the thali and applying kumkum given by the temple priest. Speaking to the media after the ceremony, the couple said they had developed a strong fondness for Kerala and wished to stay in the state for some time.

Monalisa is originally from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, while Farman hails from Maharashtra. Both are actors who met while working in the film industry. According to Farman, the couple have been in a relationship for the past six months.

“I met Monalisa on a film set. We have been in love for six months. Those six months felt like 60 years,” he said.

The two had travelled to Kerala as part of a film shoot. During their visit, they decided to marry at the temple.

“While travelling around Kerala, I liked this temple and felt we should get married here. When we asked the temple committee, they gave us permission. Kerala is beautiful and safe. I would like to stay here for a while,” Farman said. He also noted that his father still has reservations about their relationship.

Several prominent political leaders attended the wedding. Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty praised the couple’s decision.

“This is the real Kerala story. We should be proud. This is the courage of these two young people. Kerala truly is a place where people can live freely,” he said while heading to the ceremony.

M. V. Govindan, State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), also commented on the occasion.

“Two independent individuals choosing to get married is the essence of the story. They chose Kerala, and a temple built by Sree Narayana Guru, for this special moment,” he said.

Member of Parliament A. A. Rahim was also present at the ceremony.

Who is Monalisa?

Monalisa first rose to prominence during the Kumbh Mela 2025, where she was seen selling rudraksha malas. Videos highlighting her striking eyes and smile quickly went viral on social media, turning her into an internet sensation.

Following her sudden popularity, she began pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. She is set to make her Bollywood debut in the upcoming film The Diary of Manipur, directed by Sanoj Mishra.

Her music video Dil Jania has already garnered millions of views on YouTube.

Monalisa is also preparing to enter Malayalam cinema with the film Nagamma, directed by P. Binu Varghese, in which she will star opposite actor Kailash.

In addition to her film projects, she maintains an active presence on Instagram and frequently collaborates with various brands.
