Milma to disburse Rs 2 as additional price to dairy farmers

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) has announced a boost for the dairy union members with an additional milk price of Rs 2 a liter.

This additional incentive is based on the quantity of milk supplied to the union by farmers during the month of April. Chairperson Mani Vishwanath stated that this decision was taken in recognition of the challenges faced by farmers, particularly during the monsoon season.

The supplemental milk price will be disbursed along with the regular June milk price, With this the average milk price received by the TRCMPU members will be Rs 46.84 per liter

The Thiruvananthapuram regional union distributed approximately Rs. 12 crore as additional milk price for the financial year 2023-24. Vishwanath highlighted that the union anticipates an extra expenditure of around Rs. 1.5 crore this year due to this initiative.
