Kerala’s MeHealth app gets big upgrade; Nearby doctors, hospitals and pharmacies now just a tap away
The Kerala Health Department has rolled out new features on its ‘MeHealth’ app, allowing users to quickly find nearby hospitals, specialty doctors, pharmacies and key healthcare services through a new “Nearby Services” option. The latest update is aimed at improving access to government healthcare facilities and online OP ticket booking services across the state.
With the upgraded MeHealth app, users can now check details of nearby government hospitals, Janakeeya Arogya Kendram (JAK- Kerala's network of family health centres), government homoeopathy hospitals and Karunya pharmacies. The app also provides information on speciality doctors, laboratory tests, blood banks, radiology facilities, pay wards and pharmacy services available at hospitals.
The Health Department said users can also book OP tickets online in advance at hospitals where the e-health system has been implemented. The app additionally shows the exact route and distance to hospitals, making it easier for patients to access healthcare services.
To use the app, users must install the MeHealth app and log in using their mobile number and OTP verification. By entering their Aadhaar number, users can create a Unique Health ID, which enables online OP ticket booking and access to other digital health services.
What new services can users access through the MeHealth app?
- Under the “Nearby Services” option on the app’s home page, users can click on “Find Institution” to locate hospitals within a 10-kilometre radius along with distance details.
- Those searching for specialist treatment can use the “Find Specialty” option to check which hospitals have departments such as cardiology and surgery.
- The “Find Services” section provides details related to ambulance facilities, blood banks, laboratories, pay wards and radiology services.
- Users can also locate nearby Janakeeya Aarogya Kendrams through the “Find JAK” option. Separate sections are available to identify nearby pharmacies and homoeopathy clinics.
