Sardines at nook and corner; Whatsapp groups to notify
With the availability of plenty of sardines, there are sellers at almost every nook and corner. Several pavements and sidewalks are now identified as sardine corners. Most of them are sold via goods auto.
There are whatsapp groups to coordinate the sellers, availability and price of sardines since these are temporary corners.
Sardine once used to be known as the common man’s fish because of its nominal price. But often, it goes by its cycle of seasonal fluctuations in availability and price. Recently, the price of sardines had even skyrocketed to Rs 350, recalls a merchant from the area.
Now the situation has reversed. With the condition of low price persisting over some time, people have now grown weary of eating sardines.
The frenzy has thus dropped a bit.
