Kozhikode: Teachers who took classes for the continuing education project under the Kerala State Literacy Mission, across various centres in Kozhikode, are yet to receive salaries.

As per reports, teachers who handled classes for SSLC equivalency courses in 30 centres and higher secondary classes in 64 centres, have not been paid salaries on time. According to complaints, their salaries were delayed despite the declaration of course results.

Meanwhile, district literacy mission coordinator P Prashanth said, “Some centre coordinators had failed to provide details regarding classes on time leading to the delay in salary distribution. However, it will be rectified soon.”

Further, the registration procedures to first year higher secondary and SSLC equivalency courses this year have not been completed so far. As many as 80 students have directly registered at the literacy mission office till now.

Whereas, classes are yet to start at 30 other centres in the district as registration procedures are underway. At present, only classes for second year higher secondary equivalency courses are being held in various centres.

“Measures have been taken to begin classes for those who have registered directly at the district literacy office and at the continuing education centre run by Kozhikode Corporation through Kudumbashree,” Prashanth added.
