Thiruvananthapuram: The Left Democratic Front has expressed its unwavering solidarity with the riot-affected people of Manipur and announced protest gatherings on July 27. LDF will mobilise thousands in the protest scheduled from 10 am to 2 pm, convenor EP Jayarajan said in a press conference.

Prior to the gathering, LDF will hold meetings in every district on Sunday, and the constituency committee meeting is scheduled for 24. Jayarajan emphasised that it would be a significant struggle to raise the voices of the people of Kerala.

Jayarajan expressed concern about the deplorable situation in Manipur, where lives have been lost, and human rights have been gravely violated. He condemned the “inaction” of the state administration in handling the situation and criticised the union government's approach towards protecting its “anti-people policies.” Jayarajan called on the public to join the protest to show solidarity and demand justice for the victims of the riots in Manipur.

Earlier, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan had come down heavily on the union government and Manipur state government over communal violence in the north eastern state. DYFI organised protest rallies at the unit and district levels across Kerala on Friday and Saturday.
