Alappuzha: As per reports coming in, both CPI and CPM have apparently decided to remain calm temporarily on the issues surrounding Kuttanad.

The CPM has no plans of pleasing cadres who have decided to shift camps to CPI. It should be noted that in an earlier instance, when around 300 CPM members were firm on shifting loyalties to CPI, CPM had tried to pacify the rebel gang by inducting them into various committees. However, the discontentment among cadres continues to brew in the party and CPM has instructed the miffed leaders to give their explanations in the branch committee meetings.

“Those who have left our party have landed in the right places,” said CPM district secretary R Nazar in his recent speech.

Mudslinging at each other continues, CPI and CPM are constantly engaged in a war of words. CPM ridiculed CPI district secretary TJ Anjalose’s comments that “CPM has never had their chief minister in office without the support of his party.”

However, Anjalose had exercised caution in his speech. While informing that several people from Kanjikuzhi and Kayamkulam were interested in joining CPI, the veteran leader also indicated that “no final decisions have been made regarding all these.” This is an indication that both the left parties have called for peace in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
