KSU to move HC in row over vote counting at Sree Kerala Varma college

Thrissur: KSU is all set to approach the High Court in the Sree Kerala Varma union election vote recounting case. The allegation is that the Chairman of the Cochin Devaswom board gave instructions to sabotage the elections. KSU also alleges that SFI won by conducting recounting at midnight as per instructions received from higher authorities.

In the first counting, KSU candidate Sreekuttan, who is visually impaired, won by one vote. However, amidst KSU’s jubilation over the win, SFI demanded a recount. On the second count, SFI candidate Anirudhan won by three votes. With this, KSU boycotted the recount. However, when the results were declared at midnight, it stated that Anirudhan had won by 11 votes.

KPCC President K. Sudhakaran said that he was informed that the counting was done more than four times and that there was some irregularity in the recount. He said that the results cannot be accepted and that he fully supports KSU in seeking legal means to resolve the issue.

Opposition leader V.D Satheesan also spoke out against this by saying that this was an attempt by SFI to subvert democracy.
