The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is addressing the chaotic situation on the roads, where superfast buses are trying to overtake 'Minnal' buses (the fastest KSRTC buses in the state). Complaints have been increasing about fast buses overtaking superfast ones, and ordinary buses not yielding space for any of these faster buses, even when they honk their horns loud and long.

In response to these issues, KSRTC has given strict instructions to its drivers and conductors to avoid unnecessary overtaking and to ensure that buses with lower ticket fares do not cut in front of higher-fare buses. When a superfast bus sounds its horn, slower buses must give way.

KSRTC has instructed not only drivers but also conductors to adhere to these guidelines. The staff should remember that passengers choose higher-class buses by paying more for quicker and safer travel.

Therefore, the KSRTC Managing Director has emphasised that there should be no unnecessary competition on the road. Strict action will be taken if these guidelines are not followed. There have been numerous complaints about lower-category buses not yielding to higher-fare buses, including ‘minnal,’ and competing with them by overtaking.

However, some employees have noted that older buses which function as super-class services, including deluxe and super, have less pick up speed. They also pointed out that recently purchased low-end buses are outperforming them because of this.
