Kozhikode railway station to be upgraded to international standards by June 2027: George Kurian

Kozhikode: The Kozhikode railway station is set to undergo a major transformation, with Union Minister of State George Kurian confirming that the development project will be completed by June 2027. Speaking after a project review meeting, Kurian stated that the upgrade aims to bring the station up to international standards, providing modern facilities comparable to those found in airports.
The Rs 450 crore project will include modern health facilities, staff quarters, and enhanced passenger amenities, with infrastructure designed to meet international benchmarks. Kurian assured that the project is progressing well, with the main phase of construction set to begin in July 2025. Kurian clarified that no land acquisition has been undertaken for the project, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
M.K. Raghavan, MP, revealed plans to establish an IT hub near the railway station, which is expected to boost the region’s economy and connectivity. The project review meeting was attended by key railway officials, including DRM Arunkumar Chaturvedi, ADRM Jayakrishnan, Station Director Barjas Muhammed, Chief Engineer V. Rajagopalan, Deputy Chief Engineer Robin Rajan, and Additional Divisional Engineer KM Sudheendran.
