Fleecing of commuters: Kerala Savari files complaint against autorickshaw services

Thiruvananthapuram: The state-run online taxi service Kerala Savari has lodged a complaint against its private counterparts offering autorickshaw services over fleecing of commuters. According to Kerala Savari, private players are charging the customers more than the rate fixed by the government.

The move comes at a time when Karnataka administration has challenged players including Ola, Uber and Rapido for overcharging the commuters who book autorickshaw services.
Kerala Savari in its complaint has urged the transport commissioner, legal metrology department officials to curb the fleecing.

It is learnt that private players pose a challenge for Kerala Savari and their services are shrinking its market space. Apparently, drivers associated with private players have better pay as such entities are cheating the customers.

Karnataka Transport Department on October 7 issued notices to the app-based aggregators to immediately stop their auto services and directed them to give an explanation on charges of exorbitant charges levied to customers. The Transport Department warned that if the explanation is not given and the order is not followed, they would face legal action.
