Heat alert for 6 districts in Kerala; Rain expected in 3 places on March 11

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for six districts in Kerala, warning of high temperatures on March 8 (Saturday). Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Kannur are likely to experience unusually warm weather.

According to IMD, temperatures may rise to 37°C in Kollam, Palakkad, and Kozhikode, while Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, and Kannur could record up to 36°C—2 to 3°C above normal.

On March 8 and 9, hot and humid weather conditions are expected in these districts, except for hilly regions, due to elevated temperatures and atmospheric moisture.

Rain alert for southern districts

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta on March 11 (Tuesday). These districts may receive isolated heavy showers, with rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours classified as heavy rain.

Residents have been advised to stay updated with weather warnings and take neccassary precautions.
