Kerala weather update: Rising heat wave to ease as 3-day spell of rain forecast from Thursday

Thiruvananthapuram: Providing a brief respite from the severe heat conditions across the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the likelihood of rain. Although showers are anticipated in all districts on the 10th, 11th and 12th, the intensity of downpours is expected to be more pronounced across southern and central Kerala.
Official weather alerts have been raised in anticipation of localised heavy rainfall.
Yellow alert
- September 10: Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts.
- September 11: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam districts.
The state has been experiencing above-average temperatures and high humidity over recent weeks, increasing domestic power consumption and daily discomfort.
While a yellow alert indicates isolated heavy rainfall (between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm over 24 hours), meteorologists advise residents in low-lying and hilly regions to stay vigilant against temporary waterlogging and localised instability.
