Kerala rain update: IMD issues yellow alert for northern districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain forecast for Kerala, placing several northern districts on alert over the coming days.
Yellow alert
According to the latest bulletin from the weather department, a yellow alert has been sounded for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on July 23, 2026.
The weather office has predicted isolated heavy rainfall across these regions. Under IMD guidelines, a yellow alert denotes heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour window.
Residents in low-lying areas and hilly terrains across the flagged districts are advised to remain cautious, as intense spells over short periods could lead to localized waterlogging and minor landslides. Local authorities have been urged to stay vigilant as monsoon activity continues over the state.
