Kerala police to leave for Kalinga University to verify authenticity of Nikhil’s certificates

Alappuzha: A two-member team of Kerala Police will visit Kalinga University, in order to verify the authenticity of the B.Com certificate submitted by Nikhil Thomas at the Kayamkulam MSM college, for securing a postgraduate seat.
Nikhil who enrolled at MSM college for B.Com in 2018 was unable to complete the course. But he was still granted admission to postgraduate studies at the same college on the basis of a B.Com degree certificate issued by Kalinga University.
However, questions were raised on how he managed to study at both Kalinga University and Kayamkulam College simultaneously. Subsequently, doubts arose regarding the authenticity of his degree certificate, resulting in his removal from the district committee of SFI.
Meanwhile, SFI state secretary PM Arsho had come in defence of the student leader yesterday. He said that the certificates submitted by Nikhl were authentic.
However, Kalinga University registrar and Kerala University vice-chancellor raised concerns about the authenticity of Nikhil’s graduate certificate yesterday evening.
“No student named Nikhil was enrolled at the university during the specified period,” said Kalinga University registrar Dr Sandeep Gandhi.
MSM college authorities are expected to lodge an official complaint regarding the alleged documentary forgery on Tuesday. The police investigation will be led by Kayamkulam DYSP.
Police are suspecting involvement of more individuals in the case as well. They have recorded statements from the college principal. Actions will be taken once an official complaint is filed.
