War of words erupts in INL after losing chairman post of minorities development corporation

Kozhikode: INL has been witnessing a serious internal rift after losing the post of chairman in Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation (KSMDFC). The party, which is an ally of the ruling LDF, was holding the post for a long time. But this time, LDF allotted the post to Kerala Congress (M).
Many members of INL has been criticising the leadership for failing to keep the post.
The first Pinarayi Vijayan government had faced criticism over the finance corporation. It is assumed that the LDF government has decided to exclude INL from the corporation's administration examining the issues during the last term. Instead of KSMDFC's chairman post, INL has got the chairman post of Sitaram textiles.
Till date, the KSMDFC chairman post was given to parties belonging to the Muslim community. Hence, INL occupied the post when the LDF government came to power.
Schemes for Muslim students proposed by the Sachar committee come under Minorities Development Finance Corporation. Hence, both LDF and UDF used to prefer parties with Muslim majority to head the corporation.
At the same time, LDF has replaced INL with Kerala Congress (M) when the court ordered to consider Christian communities for minority scholarship based on the population.
Meanwhile, INL general secretary Kasim Irikoor dismissed the reports relating to the rift within the party.
"So far, no complaints have been raised over the minority corporation chairman post. LDF will summon a meeting this week. A final decision on allotment of the corporation chairman posts will be taken only after this," he added.
