Kerala Eid-e-Milad rally: Muslim youths salute Hindu temple, video crosses more than 2.7 m views | WATCH

A video showing Muslim youths offering a salute to a Hindu temple during a recent Eid-e-Milad rally in Kerala’s northernmost district has gone viral, drawing widespread praise on social media for highlighting religious harmony.
In the Instagram reel, uniformed volunteers can be seen halting midway during the rally, turning towards the Palakunnu Kazhakam Bhagavathy temple and offering a salute before resuming their march.
Organisers explain long-standing practice
The rally was organised by the Kottikulam Noorul Huda Madrassa at Palakunnu. One of the organisers said, “We have been following the practice of offering a salute to the temple for the past 10 years. This time, it has become viral through the video. There were 47 participants, including children. Several people have called us and texted us after seeing the viral video.”
He added that the participants also offered respect before other religious institutions along the route.
Local youth captures the moment
The visuals were captured by Anishith K, a local youth who witnessed the gesture while sitting at his father’s shop opposite the temple. He said, “I never expected that the video would go viral when I posted it. I had goosebumps seeing the participants offering a salute to the shrine. So, I shot the visuals in my phone.”
He posted the reel on Instagram on Saturday with the caption: “This is Kerala. Kerala’s unity in diversity - Muslims saluting a Hindu temple on Nabi Dinam, showing respect and harmony between religions.”
The video has crossed 2.7 million views as on Tuesday.
Social media reaction
Large numbers of social media users hailed the act, describing it as an inspiring example of Kerala’s culture of religious coexistence.
