Kochi: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited MLA Uma Thomas at Renai Medicity Hospital in Kochi after she was seriously injured in a fall during a dance programme at the Kaloor International Stadium.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Minister K N Balagopal and CPM District Secretary C N Mohanan, met with the MLA, who is currently undergoing treatment for multiple injuries. The CM made the hospital visit before leaving for the CPM Central Committee meetings in Kolkata.

Uma Thomas, who fell from a 15-foot-high platform, sustained severe injuries to her head, spine, lungs, and ribs. Following the fall, she was placed on a ventilator. However, after showing signs of improvement in her brain and spine injuries on December 31, she was taken off the ventilator. Doctors have stated that after another week of treatment, her condition will be reassessed to determine if she can be sent home.

A medical team, including experts from Ernakulam and Kottayam Medical Colleges, is closely monitoring Uma Thomas's recovery. Led by Dr T K Jayakumar, the team is working alongside the hospital’s medical board to ensure she receives the best care during her recovery.
