Kerala CM's security beefed up after Maoist attack in Kannur

Kannur: The security of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been strengthened in the wake of recent gun battle between the state police and Maoists in Kannur.
On Tuesday, security had been significantly enhanced at events attended by Vijayan in Kannur, including deployment of 50 policemen from Kozhikode and Kasaragod districts. Two DySPs were also included in the Chief Minister's security detail.
Meanwhile, security of Vijayan is likely to be increased in the coming weeks owing to recent threats posed by Maoists in the northern district of Kerala.
A group of Maoists had reportedly opened fire at a police patrolling team inside a forest in Kannur the other day. As per the report, two Maoists suffered injuries from police firing and escaped into the forest with other cadres. The search operation is ongoing in the area.
