Two die after suspected consumption of sanitiser in Alappuzha

Alappuzha: Two friends were found dead inside their houses at Kuthiyathode in Thuravoor here on Monday. 

The deceased are identified as Kaithavalappil Stephen (47) and Kollasseri Baiju (50).

It is suspected that the duo consumed hand sanitiser instead of liquor. But the police didn’t confirm this.

According to police, the cause of death will be confirmed only after post-mortem and detailed examination.

Baiju and Stephen who are friends used to gather for booze sessions. Hence, it is suspected that the duo consumed sanitiser on the other day as the liquor outlets remain closed.
Bottles of sanitiser also recovered from their residence.

Baiju was found unconscious at his residence on Monday morning. Later, his relatives took him to Thuravoor Govt. hospital. But the doctors declared him dead.

Following Baiju’s death, Stephen was also found dead at his residence.

Kuthiyathode police initiated a probe into the death of the duo. After completing the inquest, both bodies were taken to Vandanam medical college for post-mortem.
