HC seeks explanation from Election Commission on double votes

Kochi: The High Court of Kerala, on Friday, has sought an explanation from the State Election Commission on the petition filed by Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala regarding rigged votes. The court asked EC to furnish the explanation on Monday.

Chennithala had filed complaint with the Election Commission alleging rigged votes. He moved HC alleging there was no action taken by EC on the complaints.

In the petition he demanded to issue an interim ban on the voting rights of the voters with double votes in the Assembly election. He further stated that EC had informed him of technical difficulties in removing the double votes from the voters list.

Justice CT Ravikumar considered the plea in the absence of Chief Justice considering the urgent nature of the petition.
