Kannur (Kerala): A man accused of murdering his wife died from heavy bleeding in Kannur Central Jail after he hurt himself, according to an early police report. However, no weapon has been recovered. Police stated that clarity will only emerge once the post-mortem report is available.

Prisoner Jilson Devasia (43), from Manchira, Kelamangalam, Kenichira in Wayanad, died in the new block of the Central Jail on Tuesday. It is believed that he used a small sharp weapon resembling a blade to cut his throat and kill himself.

The investigation is being led by Town Police Inspector PA Binu Mohan, who visited the prison and recorded statements from fellow inmates.
