'We weren't chasing a revolution': Kanchanamala’s journey of love beats the Prithviraj-Parvathy film

“This is not a tale of romance. We did not love each other with the illusion of creating a revolution. Such a love story never existed. We were bound by a connection deeper than love—an unbreakable bond that felt like it had existed for lifetimes. Yet, our love caused pain to many dear to us. That pain was real, and it wounded us too. Perhaps that is why we never had a life together.”
“The most reckless decision I ever made was wanting to die with Moideen when he passed away. Had I done so, it would have tarnished his legacy. Moideen had started many noble initiatives, and I chose to live so I could continue them. He was a protector of women. Even in his final moments, as he drowned, he saved the lives of a woman and a child. I remember how deeply he mourned when John F Kennedy passed away, thinking of his widow and children.
“Today, I feel fulfilled. I have been able to keep Moideen’s memory alive, and I hope it will remain so for as long as the world exists. I will forever be grateful to my mother A M Fathima, who with incredible foresight, pulled me back from the jaws of death and brought me back to life. I also remember my father and mother, who lived and died carrying the sorrow of my choices. May their souls forgive me. To my family and relatives, whom I have hurt through my life’s journey, I seek forgiveness.”
“Moideen once wrote to me, saying, ‘I will write our story after we complete sixty years of life together’. But fate did not allow him to fulfill that wish. As this book takes form, I remember his words. This is not just Moideen’s story—it is also mine, preserved for future generations. For over three years, P T Muhammad Sadiq pursued me with unwavering dedication to bring this book to life. If, as he hopes, it offers a new perspective on life to the younger generation, I will find solace in that."
