‘Immoral, acted against Sanatana Dharma’: NSS unit slams former Kerala minister amid escalating row

The long-running tussle between LDF leader and former minister K B Ganesh Kumar and the Nair Service Society (NSS) leadership in Kerala has taken a sharper turn.

The latest salvo has come from the NSS Kottarakkara taluk union, which passed a resolution strongly criticising Kumar for his public remarks against the Hindu community organisation and its general secretary, G Sukumaran Nair.

The resolution comes amid a series of setbacks in Kumar's relationship with the NSS. He was earlier removed as president of the NSS Kottarakkara taluk union and subsequently dropped from the organisation's director board.

His primary membership was also not renewed after the Pathanapuram taluk union, which he had headed, was disbanded.

NSS resolution targets Kumar's remarks

The resolution was moved by union member G Thankappan Pillai. It expressed the unit's protest against Kumar's criticism of the NSS and its leadership.

The Kottarakkara taluk union alleged that the family of former minister R Balakrishna Pillai, Kumar's father, had gained positions of power with the "shade and support" of the NSS.

It further claimed that when Balakrishna Pillai was serving a jail sentence after being convicted in a corruption case, Sukumaran Nair's interventions provided him support.

The resolution also alleged that Sukumaran Nair played a key role in securing a ministerial position for Ganesh Kumar, despite Balakrishna Pillai's lack of interest in the move.

The NSS unit cited these claims while questioning Kumar's present criticism of the organisation and its leadership.

Resolution makes allegations over religious practices

The resolution contains strong allegations against Kumar, accusing him of acting in an "immoral" and "uncultured" manner.

It alleged that while serving on the NSS director board for the past three years, Kumar followed and worshipped another religion in a manner that, according to the union, was contrary to Sanatana Dharma and Hindu customs.

The Kottarakkara unit also linked this allegation to Kumar's electoral defeat in Pathanapuram, saying the public had already judged such actions.

The resolution further stated that all 150 NSS karayogams in Kottarakkara taluk had expressed full solidarity with the NSS leadership and Sukumaran Nair.

Ganesh Kumar's ties with NSS deteriorate

The Kottarakkara taluk union said attempts by people such as Kumar to destroy the NSS would not succeed and strongly condemned such moves.
