‘I'm the only one who didn't know’: MoS Suresh Gopi dismisses resignation rumours

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Tourism, Suresh Gopi, has strongly rejected widespread reports claiming that he has expressed a desire to resign from the Union Cabinet. Taking to Facebook, the actor-politician urged the public not to waste their time believing such "movie-like scripts”.
The rumours and context
Speculation had been rife that Suresh Gopi wanted to be relieved of his ministerial duties to resume his full-time acting career. Reports suggested he had approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to step down, citing a severe drop in his personal income since pausing his cinema commitments.
The rumours even claimed that Gopi—who made history as the BJP’s first-ever Lok Sabha MP from Kerala by winning the Thrissur constituency—has recommended newly elected Rajya Sabha MP C Sadanandan Master as his successor in the Union Cabinet. Critics and reports highlighted that his dual identity as a top star and a pioneer MP was creating a conflict with his long-term political commitments.
Suresh Gopi's strong denial
However, the Union Minister has completely shut down these claims.
Translating his viral Facebook response, Suresh Gopi wrote, "Suresh Gopi has expressed his willingness to resign. Did you know about this????? Well, I am the only one who didn't know! It takes just a single click to know the truth. Therefore, please do not waste your time believing such 'movie stories'.
“To those manufacturing fake news: 'That's not right... you should change this habit at least now.'"
