Kerala rains: Holiday declared for educational institutions in 11 districts on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: The district collectors of Wayanad, Thrissur, Kasaragod, Malappuram, Kannur, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Kottayam, Palakkad and Pathanamthitta on Sunday declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Monday, June 16, due to the heavy rainfall forecast in the state.

In Wayanad, all schools, including professional colleges, madrasas, anganwadis, tuition centres and special classes, will remain closed for the day. However, the order does not apply to residential schools and residential colleges.

In Thrissur, all educational institutions, including schools, nurseries, anganwadis, professional colleges and tuition centres, will remain shut on Monday. The officials clarified that there would be no changes to any pre-scheduled exams or interviews.

The Kasaragod District Collector announced that all educational institutions, including colleges, professional colleges, central schools, anganwadis, tuition centres, madrasas and special classes, will remain closed on Monday.

In Malappuram, the holiday will apply to all schools, madrasas, anganwadis and tuition centres. However, the order excludes residential educational institutions and does not affect previously scheduled exams.

All schools, tuition centres, anganwadis, and religious institutions in Kannur district will remain closed due to heavy rainfall.

All educational institutions in Idukki will remain closed on Monday, as a precautionary measure following heavy rains and forecast of strong winds.

All educational institutions, including professional colleges, anganwadis, and tuition centres in Ernakulam district, will remain closed on due to an orange alert issued in view of heavy rain and strong winds.

All schools in Kozhikode district will remain closed on Monday following the declaration of a red alert. The holiday also applies to anganwadis, madrasas, and tuition centres.

All educational institutions, including professional colleges and anganwadis in Kottayam district, will remain closed on Monday due to heavy rainfall and strong winds. However, the holiday does not apply to pre-scheduled examinations.

As heavy rains persist in Palakkad district and an orange alert remains in effect, all educational institutions, including schools, professional colleges, anganwadis, nurseries, and tuition centers, will remain closed on Monday. However, there will be no change in the schedule of previously scheduled exams and interviews.

Due to heavy rainfall, all educational institutions in Pathanamthitta, including anganwadis, schools, professional colleges, and tuition centres, will remain closed on Monday.

The IMD has also issued red alerts for Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram on Monday. Meanwhile, orange alerts have been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Palakkad. The districts of Alappuzha, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam are under yellow alert.
