Hijab row: Anil Kumar’s opinion strictly personal, says KT Jaleel

Alappuzha: CPM MLA KT Jaleel has come up with a clarification on the controversial statement on ‘Hijab’ issued by party state council member K Anil Kumar. The veteran CPM leader has stated that Anil Kumar’s opinion on the Hijab culture in Malappuram is strictly personal, and strongly condemned the practise of projecting an individual’s opinion as that of the party. KT Jaleel earned the support of MP AM Ariff as well.

Anil Kumar had issued an unthoughtful statement that CPM has influenced the Muslim women in Malappuram in rejecting Hijab. However, within no time, KT Jaleel put up a Facebook post saying that Anil Kumar’s comments are strictly personal; Jaleel cleared the air by saying that CPM does not hold such an opinion. His Facebook post was shared by AM Arrif as well.

Meanwhile, KT Jaleel, in his post, had also shared his personal experience, when he had visited AM Ariff’s residence to attend the death rituals of his mother. He recalled how Ariff had performed the final rites of his mother adhering to the religious norms. 

Before concluding his post, KT Jaleel stated that there are so many believers within CPM Kerala. He highlighted the fact that CPM in Kerala is a pluralistic party that upholds diverse views and thoughts.
