Heavy rain likely in northern Kerala: Red alert for Kozhikode; Orange for Kannur, Kasaragod

Thiruvananthapuram: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in northern Kerala on Tuesday. A red alert has been issued for Kozhikode, while an orange alert has been declared for Kannur and Kasaragod districts. A yellow alert has been issued for Malappuram and Wayanad districts. There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms in isolated areas of Kerala through Wednesday. The department also reported that Cyclone Fengal is expected to transform into a low-pressure area over northern Kerala and Karnataka by Tuesday, moving towards the Arabian Sea.
KSEB issues safety warning
In the wake of the expected heavy rainfall, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has issued a safety warning. Falling tree branches may break electric lines, which could cause electric shocks.
