Heavy rain alert: Red alert in three Kerala districts on Wednesday

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast intense rainfall across Kerala, issuing multiple weather alerts across the state. A Red Alert has been declared for Wednesday (October 22) in three districts due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall.
The districts under Red Alert on Wednesday are: Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram.
A Red Alert signifies extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.4 mm in 24 hours, which may lead to flooding, landslides, and other severe weather impacts.
Residents in these districts are advised to take all necessary precautions and stay updated through official weather and disaster management sources.
In addition to the Red Alert, an Orange Alert has also been issued for the following districts on Wednesday: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad.
On Thursday (October 23), the IMD has issued Orange Alerts for Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, especially in hilly and low-lying areas prone to landslides and flash floods.
