Governor meets Speaker; likely to give nod for special Assembly session

Thiruvananthapuram: Speaker Sreeramakrishnan met Governor Arif Mohammed Khan in connection with convening a special Assembly session on December 31.
It is reported that the Governor has assured that he would grant permission for the Assembly session. Meanwhile, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has sought an explanation regarding the content of the resolution.
The budget session of Kerala Assembly, which is scheduled to take place on January 8, should start with the Governor’s address. The Speaker met with the Governor in order to invite him for the Assembly session. Meanwhile, they also talked about convening the special Assembly session on December 31.
The Governor conveyed his dissatisfaction to the Speaker. He stated that there was no clarity regarding the emergency nature of the situation when the government sought permission for the first time. That is why an explanation was sought from the government. However, the explanation provided by the government was not satisfactory.
The other day, the Governor met with the ministers who communicated the government’s position on the matter. It is reported that the Governor has ssured to grant permission for the special Assembly session after the Speaker raised the same points.
The Governor has sought the government's explanation regarding two things. He wanted to know under what circumstance the special Assembly session is being convened and the content of the resolution. The Chief Minister’s office has provided explanations regarding both.
