Karuvannur bank fraud: Former MP mentioned in ED report is PK Biju, alleges Anil Akkara

Thrissur: Congress leader Anil Akkara alleged that the former parliamentarian mentioned in the Enforcement Directorate’s remand report of two accused in the Karuvannur bank fraud is PK Biju, a CPM state secretariat member. Biju is a two-time MP who represented Alathur in the Lok Sabha.

The former MLA accused P Satheesh Kumar, a native of Kolazhy in Thrissur and the primary accused in the case has been Biju's mentor.

“Biju, who served as an MP in 2009, had his MP office located in Vadakkencherry in the Palakkad district. After his reelection in 2014, he relocated to a palace-like residence in Parlikad, Thrissur. Wadakkanchery municipal councillor PR Aravindakshan, who is expected to be arrested in connection with the case soon, was managing the house,” alleged Akkara.

In court, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) reported that an MLA and former MP have close ties to the primary accused in the bank loan fraud case. Satheesh Kumar, who was closely linked to a high-ranking police officer, had conducted financial transactions totaling Rs 500 crore, ED claimed. However, the agency did not name the public representatives or the police officer.

The ED shared the details when the prime and second accused, P Satheesh Kumar and PP Kiran, both Thrissur natives, were produced in the court. The special court for financial crimes sent the accused on remand until September 19.

The investigation team submitted the testimony of CPM member K A Jijor who allegedly functioned as the middleman for Satheesh Kumar’s financial transactions.
