Former CPM MLA S Rajendran meets BJP leader in Delhi, likely to join saffron party

New Delhi: In a major development, CPM leader and former MLA S Rajendran is reportedly headed to BJP. Earlier today, the CPM leader held a meeting with Prakash Javadekar, who is BJP Kerala Prabhari, here.
There were already reports that Rajendran would leave CPM and join BJP. Interestingly, the development came just days after BJP state president K Surendran claimed that UDF and LDF leaders in the state will join BJP ranks in the coming days. BJP leaders also met with Rajendran. Following this, CPM tried to convince former Devikulam MLA not to leave the party. CPM leaders K K Jayachandran, Idukki District Secretary C V Varghese, and M M Mani were said to have had a private meeting with him.
Following this, he attended the LDF convention and announced that he would stay with the communist party.
Amid these developments, Rajendran met with BJP leaders in New Delhi. Following the last assembly election, Rajendran was suspended for a year from the party over claims that he abstained from campaigning for the party candidate in the Devikulam constituency and attempted to divert votes. He later refused to renew his party membership and criticized fellow party members.
